Please join us for the Opening Reception and presentation for the AMERICANS AND THE HOLOCAUST EXHIBITION.  Dr. Dan J. Puckett of Troy University will discuss the rise of Nazism and the response from the American South and from Southern Jews. Light refreshments will be served prior to the presentation.

Rabbi Beth Schwartz, Rabbi Emirita of Temple Israel in Columbus, GA, this discussion of Michael Dobbs' riveting account of Jewish Families seeking to escape Nazi Germany, when "a piece of paper with a stamp on it" could have life-altering consequences.

We will screen two classics from the Hollywood Studio system that were directly impacted by America's evolving response to Nazism and World War II.

A LIBERATOR'S LEGACY: WWII VETERAN JUDGE AARON COHN AT EBENSEE

Eleven years after his death in 2012, Judge Aaron Cohn is still revered in Columbus as a consummate civic leader and juvenile justice advocate. But during World War II, he was one of the soldiers who helped liberate the Ebensee concentration camp in Austria. Please join us as his daughter Gail Cohn shares the story of how the Judge's reception as a Jewish Liberator by the prisoners resonates to this day. Light refreshments will be served prior to the presentation.
