In conversation: ALLEN LEVI at the Columbus Public Library March 13

Allen Levi, one of the South’s most revered storytellers and musicians, will pay a visit to the Columbus Public Library to meet with the community and to discuss his breath-taking new novel Theo of Golden.

The special event will take place on Thursday, March 13 at 6:30pm. It will be held at the Columbus Public Library, 3000 Macon Road, in the second floor W.C. Bradley Reading Room. Admission is free and no advance reservations or tickets are needed.

Copies of Theo of Golden will be on sale at the event with cash and credit card being accepted.

Mr. Levi gave up a career in law to pursue his twin loves of music and storytelling. Since that time, he has toured the country extensively and has over twenty albums to his credit.

His novel Theo of Golden is the endearing story of a curious old man who quietly moves into a southern city and, for reasons unknown to anyone but himself, undertakes a campaign of anonymous generosity. Ostensibly a work of fiction, many will notice similarities between Columbus and its doppelganger Golden, Georgia. Readers will recognize the sights and sounds, the stores and locations, and perhaps even some of the people that come to meet the mysterious old man.

Mr. Levi is currently at work on a sequel, Ellen of Golden.

This presentation is a part of the NEA Big Read Columbus celebration of Where We Live. It is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. Where We Live is presented by the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries and the Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians at Columbus State University. Additional financial support is provided by the Muscogee County Library Foundation.
