EVENT RECORDING: In conversation: ALLEN LEVI at the Columbus Public Library March 13

Allen Levi, one of the South’s most revered storytellers and musicians, paid a visit to the Columbus Public Library to meet with the community and to discuss his breath-taking new novel Theo of Golden.

The special event took place on Thursday, March 13 at 6:30pm at the Columbus Public Library, 3000 Macon Road, in the second floor W.C. Bradley Reading Room.

"Theo of Golden", a novel by Allen Levi.

Mr. Levi gave up a career in law to pursue his twin loves of music and storytelling. Since that time, he has toured the country extensively and has over twenty albums to his credit.

His novel Theo of Golden is the endearing story of a curious old man who quietly moves into a southern city and, for reasons unknown to anyone but himself, undertakes a campaign of anonymous generosity. Ostensibly a work of fiction, many will notice similarities between Columbus and its doppelganger Golden, Georgia. Readers will recognize the sights and sounds, the stores and locations, and perhaps even some of the people that come to meet the mysterious old man.

Mr. Levi is currently at work on a sequel, Ellen of Golden.

This presentation was part of the NEA Big Read Columbus celebration of Where We Live. The NEA Big Read a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. Where We Live was presented by the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries and the Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians at Columbus State University. Additional financial support was provided by the Muscogee County Library Foundation.
