Enjoy an explosive summer of reading, events, prizes and more at the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries during Spark a Reaction. It’s easy to participate. Sign up online and begin reading today. The first 900 participants to sign up will receive a mood cup. Read any way you want, earn badges and get entered for a chance to win a Nintendo 3DS, Beats™ Speakers, a new Surface Tablet and more! This year’s dates are May 17th – July 11th.

Rules

  • Read for 5 hours; anything you want (books, graphic novels, or blogs) and earn a lanyard.
  • Record your progress online.
  • Read for 10 hours and be one of the first 120 teens to register for Summer Reading to receive a Carmike movie pass.
  • When you read 5, 10, and 20 hours earn an electronic badge that you can share on social media, and pick up a corresponding button at your favorite library.
  • Every 5 hours of reading earns one entry into the grand prize drawing and the branch prize drawing. The maximum number of entries is three for each prize drawing.

  • Watercolor to the Sountrack of...

  • 3D Printing 101

    Teens, learn how to create 3D objects and we'll print your design for free. Event open to teens ages 12 to 18.

  • Otaku Club

    Teens 12 to 18! Do you enjoy Manga, Anime, or Asian culture? Then join us as we explore all three through fun activities and anime watch parties.

  • Big Eyes, Small Mouth

    When: Wednesday, January 31, 2018 - 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
    Where: Columbus Public Library at Teen Department

    Create your own character, fight monsters and other creatures, and travel across foreign lands in this anime style roleplaying game. Event open to teens ages 12 to 18.

  • Creative Crawlers

    When: Wednesday, January 24, 2018 - 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
    Where: Columbus Public Library at Aflac Storytime Room

    Creative Crawlers is a drop-in social hour that encourages children to learn through play. flanChildren will be able to play through musical instruments, puppets, flannels, coloring, and more!

  • Tiny Tales (Ages 0-24 mo)

    When: Wednesday, January 24, 2018 - 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM
    Where: Mildred L. Terry Public Library at Alpha Kappa Alpha Room

    Tiny Tales is a fun program that introduces babies and toddlers to books and language activities. Parents are encouraged to take on the role as their child's first teacher. Activities may involve stories, books, rhymes, music, movement, finger plays, puppets and educational toys.

  • Time for Tots

    When: Thursday, January 25, 2018 - 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
    Where: Columbus Public Library at Aflac Storytime Room

    Time for Tots is a fun, high-energy reading program that aids in children's speech development and motor coordination, while helping them gain valuable pre-reading skills. Activities may involve stories, books, language, rhymes, music, movement, puppets, and toys.

    Enjoy a weekly dose of your favorite game cravings such as Minecraft, video game consoles, coding activities, and much more! Games change weekly.
